‘Marshals’ Stars Promises ‘Big Ol’ Cliffhanger’ in Finale — ‘You’re in For It’

The finale of CBS’s Marshals airs Sunday, May 24, bringing to a close one of the most successful TV debuts of the year. The Yellowstone spinoff has quickly become one of broadcast television’s biggest breakout hits, ranking as the most-watched TV series of 2026 just behind Netflix’s juggernaut Stranger Things, according to Nielsen viewership data. Officially renewed for a second season just days after the Yellowstone spinoff premiered and after only two episodes had aired, the cast promises an edge-of-your-seat season finale with an ending that will leave fans counting the days until Season 2.

As previously reported, there will be an assassination attempt against Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) in the Marshals Season 1 finale. The logline for the episode “Wolves at the Door,” airing on Sunday, May 24, reads: “After an assassination attempt against Broken Rock chairman Rainwater, Kayce (Luke Grimes) protects him while the Marshals race to discover who’s targeting him. When a militia attacks, Kayce realizes the conspiracy is larger than anyone imagined.”
In this exclusive clip, the cast teases the Marshals finale as snippets of what’s to come flash across the screen, including a preview of the assassination attempt on Rainwater, Kayce lying injured on the ground, a heartfelt goodbye from Andrea Cruz (Ash Santos), and glimpses of an explosive battle scene.
“What can they expect? I mean, just more of the same great stuff they got all season,” said star Grimes in the exclusive clip.

“I really loved my goodbye scene with Cal and Belle,” said Santos, who plays Andrea on the finale of the modern Western. “It got me, I was teary-eyed. I felt it. It was really beautiful. It got me!”
“I remember we were filming that big battle sequence, and we were all like, ‘Whoa. What is happening?’” recalled Arielle Kebbel, who plays Belle. “There’s just like gunfire everywhere. Andrea and Belle and Mo [Brings Plenty]’s character are, like, on this cliff…”
“It was just a hill,” laughed Logan Marshall-Green (Cal), causing the others to howl. “It was a small hill! There was not any danger of a cliff at all!”
“And you are gonna get a big ol’ cliffhanger,” promised Grimes.
“We’re in for it,” revealed Skinner.
