“I see myself as being someone who can make a major impact in the world and I just want to see how much of a footprint I can leave on earth before I leave,” Allen explained.

Joseph Allen was born with music in his blood, he grew with self-belief and, today, he’s blessed with good people by his side.
All those ingredients came together when the 21-year-old Texan auditioned for season 14 of America’s Got Talent on Tuesday night.
An admitted “dreamer,” Allen, the youngest of 12 in a “blended” family, is the type of kid who achieves what he sets out for. A one-time motocross enthusiast, Allen turned his energies to singing, songwriting and producing his own works.
On Tuesday night’s episode, Allen got the warmest of welcomes as his family and schoolmates from Phoenix, Arizona let out a roar when he walked out onto the stage. Judge Simon Cowell later remarked that Allen got the “best reaction for doing nothing” in the show’s history.
Not lacking a shred of confidence, but without even a hint of arrogance, Allen shared his reason for chasing AGT glory. “I see myself as being someone who can make a major impact in the world and I just want to see how much of a footprint I can leave on earth before I leave,” he explained.
The aspiring artist then launched into an original song, part-soul, part-rap, written for the occasion. “After today, the world’s going to know my name,” he sang. He could be onto something. It was an auspicious beginning and all four judges were moved.
“Listen, dreams come through on this stage. And I think we’re seeing your dream come true,” Gabrielle Union told Allen, as he wiped away tears.
Cowell praised his energy and vocals. “That was an astonishing audition.”
Howie Mandel enthused about the singer’s electric smile and exuberance. “People at home are talking about this moment, people in this room are talking about this moment. People just want this moment to happen. You want to leave a footprint,” Mandel said, as he climbed onto the judges’ table and – boom – left his own footprint on the golden buzzer.
